As modern students, we should get actively involved1in volunteering activities. By participating2, we can learn how to work well in a team, how to improve our interpersonal skills and organizational ability. Undoubtedly3, all of these are critical for our personal growth. So, we should take this chance to learn and to grow.

作为现代学生，我们应该积极地参与到志愿者活动中来。通过参与志愿者活动，我们可以学习如何在团队中有效地进行工作，并同时学习如何提高人际交往能力和组织能力。毫无疑问，所有这些在我们的个人成长过程中都是至关重要的。所以，我们应该抓住这个机会去学习和成长。（1.involved adj.受牵扯的2.participate v.参与3.undoubtedly adv.毋庸置疑地）

Actually an increasing number of people are willing to serve as volunteers especially the university students, because they consider that volunteering is not only a great contribution1to our society and those who are in need, but also improves themselves in many aspects. The volunteers provide their assistance2without requiring any financial3rewards. Their contributions have a great impact on social harmony.

实际上越来越多的人尤其是大学生愿意成为志愿者，因为他们觉得志愿服务不仅对社会和那些有需要帮助的人有很大的贡献，而且对自己也会在多方面有所提升。志愿者不要求回报地提供帮助,他们的贡献对社会和谐有着显著的影响。（1.contribution n.贡献，捐赠2.assistance n.帮助，援助3. financial adj.金融的；财政的）

For another, serving as a volunteer is also beneficial1to the volunteers themselves. They can improve their communication skills when providing help for others. One of the examples is that the university stu-dents who serve in Canton Fair will get a great chance to practice their English and get in touch with different kinds of people as well as broaden their horizon2. In addition, by serving as different kinds of volunteers, they are easier to understand themselves and know in which fields they are interested.

If you want to go on a volunteer holiday, the first decision you need to make is where to go. A good way to plan a volunteer holiday is to work on a volunteer project. For example, Global Volunteers is an organization which offers volunteer holidays in many places around the world. You can travel to a certain country, play games with the local children, and visit the local people. You might fix up a house or help with the gardening. Volunteer holidays can be as short as a week, or as long as a year. What’s certain is that you will learn a lot about the place you go to, and you will return with some amazing memories.
