The Origin of Hip Hop Music

The music connects the culture closely. In fact, music means culture. When the music produced, it has been related with the culture deeply. It can reflect the ancient culture, customs of some nations and regions. On the other hand, it reflects the wisdom of the special age. Music and culture, they depend on each other.

Now hip hop has become one kind of culture in the whole world. Investigating the pop music history of America even the whole world in 20 century, we can find easily that including jazz music, Bruce even hip hop culture all of these are contributed by black. Primordially, hip hop culture was born in rock-bottom black blocks. With some white rappers striving to propagate hip hop music, hip hop music has become equally with any other music forms now. A large amount of white rap groups have arisen and different races in the world accepted this kind of music form rapidly.

In the early 1970s, the concept about rapper has not yet appeared in this world. At that time, MC, this term was used to refer to some comperes of some celebrations and ceremonies and the host who told jokes at a dinner party. In America at that time, DJ was a mainstay of the club, a core of the various parties, but they almost never touch the microphone. At this time there was a man accidentally taking the microphone, making use of some rhyming words to criticize the real society. This act has changed the history. This man is DJ Kool Herc. Kool Herc is a Jamaican. After coming to New York, he wielded some toasts in Jamaican style in the club. This style can be traced back to the early African. This was a way that folk street artists and poets told stories to each other by rhyming. In his work, Kool Herc began to add these elements in the beat of funk and soul. It made this music style became so popular in New York. Most of the time, there was no rhyme. But as more and more people like his performance, he called on the two good friends to let them control over the microphone to foil the atmosphere. These two legendary figures are Clark Kent and Coke La Rock. Soon, these MC occupied the stage. It was the first time that MC began to rap for hours on the stage, especially at the time of the Brooks. Today, we turn back to see the lyrics at that time are very simple. But it is not denied that the audiences at that time loved to hear these real words. It was impossible for them to take good advantage of complex rhyme skills under that condition. Because for the audiences who listened to rap in the first time, it was very difficult to understand what are you singing. The rappers often sang some meaningless words to add to the atmosphere of the party.

In the mid of 1970s, most of teenagers of middle-class were reveling in the astonishing advantages of stereo. But at this time, a child, coming from the Bronx, New York, has already been tired of the playing method of conventional phonographs, his name is Joseph Seidler. He hoped to find ways to play player more interesting. He thought every good record had an excellent part, but these parts were very short in many times. In order to extend the rhythms he liked, these rhythms were usually at the disco dance music, he began to make the stylus jump, using two turntables and casually converting audio channels of the sound consoles. This operation broke rules and violated regulation. At about the same time, another child, Livingstone, found that it could make a raspy sound when he used his hands to rub the turntable and he loved this sound. Turntablist techniques, this important hip-hop skill has born.

There is a culture that influenced a generation of millions through music and style, and nowadays this influence is continuing to impact on more persons. Hip hop culture started out as the voice of young Black people in North America. Left behind and excluded from society. It told the stories that no one at the time heard or even cared about. Today hip hop has really become diverse and gone world widely. It has a rebellious and creative spirit and that is what attracts the young folks quite often. Hip hop is a force that cannot be stopped and can build bridges between people of the world. It is no longer a kind of music, it is a culture.
