AIYIMEI insists on winning by quality

“Currently, we cannot enjoy a famous brand; however, we are able to win by quality.” Mr. Yin Heming, Deputy General Manager of AIYIMEI Group, told the reporters during an interview in the 21st Ningbo International Fashion Fair this October.

AIYIMEI Group, founded in 1979, has developed into a group enterprise integrating garment making, textile dyeing and printing, knitting sweaters, electrical fittings, electricity generation, heat supply, hotel, industrial investment and import and export into a whole after going through 30 years of thick and thin. At present, AIYIMEI has more than 3,200 employees, covering an area of 300,000m2.

According to Mr. Yin, for garment trade, AIYIMEI enjoys both domestic and overseas markets which are basically halved. In terms of foreign trade, AIYIMEI clothes are exported to more than 30 countries and regions including the USA, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, South America and Southeast Asia. For domestic market, AIYIMEI is mainly engaged in designated uniform manufacturing which began from 2002 and saw a primary scale in 2007. Last year, the domestic sales amounted to about 250 million RMB, showcasing a stronger momentum than the overseas sales.

Currently, AIYIMEI has been identified as a designated uniform manufacturing enterprise by the PLA, the Peoples Armed Police, the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme Peoples Court, the Supreme Peoples Procuratorate, the State Administration of Industry and Commerce, the State Administration of Taxation, the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the State Oceanic Administration, the National Railway Bureau, the Fishery Administration Headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Bar Association, China Eastern Airlines, China Mobile Communication Co., Ltd., China Southern Power Grid, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of Ningbo, and other units, and AIYIMEI products are available in more than 20 provinces and cities.

In the booth of AIYIMEI, Mr. Yin introduced me to a pair of work clothes, “these are the latest uniform for China Zheshang Bank Co., Ltd. and AIYIME is one of the only two who won the bidding.” This year, the work clothes account greater shares than the previous, while the la-dies wear also enjoys higher shares than ever.

It is reported that the size of the womens wear market is larger than the sum of mens and kids wear markets, with a growth rate between mens and kidswear. Womens clothing consumption accounts for half of Chinas total garment consumption. According to CIC data, Chinas clothing market in 2015 was 1.4 trillion yuan, of which the womens market accounted for 51% of the total, reaching 732 billion yuan. From the growth rate, the average growth of womens wear in 2011- 2015 amounted to 15.5%, higher than the mens 14.8%, but lower than the 17.4% of childrens clothing. But considering the low base of childrens clothing comparing to the womens market, it can be said that the womens clothing market is still a vibrant segment of the garment industry.

At a news conference for Ningbo International Fashion Fair held on October 18, responsible people from Ningbo Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology also introduced that at present, the development of Ningbos textile and garment industry has encountered problems and is facing a new round of reshuffle. However, challenges also bred opportunities, especially the weaker situation of womens wear than the mens wear in Ningbo is being further improved. Many companies have joined the womens section, to speed up the intelligent transformation and upgrading of apparel industry.

When asked about the current main focus of AIYIMEI, Mr. Yin stated that though there are more shares of womens wear this year, AIYIMEI will still put the focus on mens wear in the following, for it is the greatest advantage of the enterprise. “Whatever we do, we must guarantee high quality of the products. It is because of the high quality of our products that many brands come to AIYIMEI and place orders.”

Mr. Yin stated that AIYIMEI has also developed a number of new projects in recent years, for example, the OEM processing for Ochirly and the BESTSELLER sees 60 million RMB each year. “AIYIMEI is not famous for its brand; however, we win by high quality which we have been always insisting on.”
