赠人玫瑰，手有余香

一位老妇人心心念念想要做苹果布丁，可是她家没有苹果，只有梅子。因此她想用自家又红又圆的一篮子梅子去换做布丁要用的苹果。一路上先后交换了羽毛、花束、金链、小狗这些原本她并不需要的东西。然而，在最后她是否得到了自己想要的东西呢？

An old woman wanted to make apple puddings but she had no apples.She had a tree full of red and round plums.So she decided to look for apples with a basket of plums.She said to herself∶“There may be those in the world who have apples，but need plums.”

At a farm yard，she met a young woman who needed plums for plum jelly.However，she just had feathers.“One pleased is better than two dis

appointed，”The old woman thought.Then she poured all her plums into the young woman’s basket and then put the bag of feathers into her own.

Then she came to a garden full of sweet roses.A couple were quarreling about whether the cushion of the chair was filled with straw or cotton.The old woman gave the bag of feathers to them.The couple were glad to exchange their flowers for the feather.They filled the old woman’s basket with the loveliest roses.

As she walked on，she met an unhappy young man.He had ordered a ring for his lover，but the store worker forgot to send it to him.So he had to see his lover with empty hands.The old woman gave her flowers to him.He was so pleased that he gave his gold chain to the old woman.

At the turning of the road she came upon a mother and children.They looked so sad because they had no food to eat.She put the gold chain into the mother’s hands.The mother was so thankful and sent their little dog to the old woman.

She walked no farther and right before her was an apple tree full of apples.An old man was sitting at the gate.He told her that he didn’t care about apples and just wanted to have a dog that can help him feel less lonely.At last the old woman went home with a basket of apples.

该句为含有定语从句的复合句。those为先行词，who为引导定语从句who have apples but need plums的关系代词，作主语。当先行词指人时，既可以用who，也可以用that作关系代词。

一位老妇人想要做苹果布丁，但是她没有苹果。她有满满一树又红又圆的梅子。所以她决定带着一篮子梅子去找苹果。她自言自语地说：“世界上可能存在有苹果，但是需要梅子的人。”

在一个农场，她遇到了一个年轻的妇女，她需要梅子做梅子酱。可她只有羽毛。老太太想∶“一个人高兴比两个人都失望好。”然后她把她所有的梅子都倒进年轻女子的篮子里，然后把一袋羽毛放进她自己的篮子里。

她来到了一个满是甜美玫瑰的花园。一对夫妇正在为他们的椅子垫子是填充棉花还是稻草而争吵。老妇人把那包羽毛给了他们。这对夫妇很高兴用他们的花来换取羽毛。他们给老妇人的篮子装满最美丽的玫瑰花儿。

当她继续往前走的时候，她遇到了一个不开心的年轻人。他为他的爱人订做了一枚戒指，但是店里的工人忘了把戒指送给他。因此他只好空手去看他的爱人。老妇人就把她的花送给了那个年轻人。他是那么开心以至于他把他的金链给了老妇人。

在拐弯处，她遇到了一位母亲和她的孩子们。他们看起来很伤心，因为他们没有吃的了。她把金链放进这位母亲的手里。这位母亲非常感激，把他们的小狗送给了老妇人。

她没走多远，刚好在她面前有一棵苹果树，树上全是苹果。一位老人正坐在大门口。他告诉老妇人他不在意苹果，他只想要一条狗，帮他减少孤独感。最后，老妇人带着一篮子苹果回家。
