2    Edible note pads launched

We've all been there—you're in a quiet meeting or class and suddenly your stomach begins to growl[(事物)发出隆隆声;低声咆哮]. You can regret[后悔;遗憾] skipping[遗漏;跳过] breakfast all you want but it's not going to quiet things down. But now, thanks to a Japanese stationery[文具] company, you can scarf down

[狼吞虎咽地吃下去] your notes. Just make sure they're not important! Kamihime are a series of edible note pads made from wafer[薄片] paper (starch powder, olive oil and water) that you can write on using an edible[可食用的] ink pen (water, citric acid and coloring). And when those hunger pains set in, just chew over your notes. Kamihime currently comes in 4 scents[气味]: vanilla, strawberry, orange and curry. Each note pad comes with 20 sheets of paper and a pen and retails[零售] for 2000 yen (116 yuan).

3    Covid vaccine stickers in dating apps

UK online daters will be able to choose to display a badge[徽章] on their profiles to show if they have been vaccinated against Covid or support the jab drive. Tinder, Match, and Hinge have all signed up to the scheme, in partnership with the UK government. Some of the apps are including additional incentives for those who say they are vaccinated—such as free credits or

access to premium[高價的,优质的] features that usually cost extra, like profile boosts, virtual flower giving and “super likes”. However there will be no way of verifying whether those displaying the badge have genuinely had the vaccine. A recent YouGov poll of nearly 5,000 UK adults found that only 28% of those who responded said they would not date someone unvaccinated, with 2% saying they would not date someone who had received the jab. The government says that around 40 million people have received at least one of the two doses so far.

The number of children in child labour[童工] has risen to 160 million worldwide -an increase of 8.4 million children in the last four years, according to a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and UNICEF. The report released ahead of World Day Against Child Labour on June 12 warns[警告] that progress to end child labour has stalled[暂缓;拖延] for the first time in 20 years. The report points to a significant[重大的;值得注意的] rise in the number of children aged 5 to 11 years in child labour, who now account for just over half of the total global figure. The number of children aged 5 to 17 years in hazardous[有危险的] work has risen by 6.5 million to 79 million since 2016. The report warns that globally, 9 million additional children are at risk of being pushed into child labour by the end of 2022 as a result of the pandemic. Additional economic shocks and school closures caused by COVID-19 mean that children already in child labour may be working longer hours or under worsening conditions, while many more may be forced into the worst forms of child labour due to job and income[收入] losses among vulnerable[有弱点的;易受伤害的] families.
