Two Sessions Lay out China’s Development Targets

Amid a volatile international environment, the annual sessions of China’s top legislature and political advisory body were convened as scheduled in early March.

ln roughly a week, lawmakers deliberated and approved the government work report as well as a range of other reports and legislative items. Among them was the decision on amending the Organic Law of the Local People’s Congresses and Local People’s Governments.

Meanwhile, political advisers presented a raft of proposals related to all walks of life for discussion, trying to make their contributions to the country’s overall progress.

With the main projected targets set for development this year, including the GDP growth of around 5.5 percent, over 11 million new urban jobs, and a grain output of over 650 million metric tons, the country kicked off a new journey of development.
