Based on a real event, this film focuses on the story of Chinese diplomats assisting in the evacuation of Chinese people from a war area. A war breaks out in the Republic of Numia, North Africa. Due to the shortage of staff in the Chinese embassy, two diplomats who were planning to return to China on the same day are asked to help with the evacuation. After the successful completion of the mission, news reaches them that there is still a group of stranded Chinese people heading for the border under the leadership of a Chinese-funded company executive. Under these circumstances, the two unarmed diplomats relinquish the opportunity to return home and answer the call of duty by entering the war zone to guide their fellow countrymen home.

The film tells an evacuation story from the perspective of Chinese diplomats, displaying the courage and wisdom they exhibit in carrying out their duties. It also pays attention to their personal feelings throughout the horrific ordeal. In times of difficulty, they deal with fear and struggled with their family affairs. The portrayal of these ordinary people also depict the profound depths of the human nature.

In Search of Lost Time (2022)

The film is adapted from historical events that occurred in the 1960s. During the late 1950s, China was hit by serious natural disasters, leaving a large number of orphans in southern provinces facing an unprecedented crisis of malnutrition. At that crucial moment, the government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region took the initiative to lend a helping hand. Nearly 3,000 orphans were transported to the northern grasslands of China to be adopted by local herdsman families.

Through the main character’s family search, the film zooms in on the details of one family’s story to spark the interest and resonance of the audience. The brother, who is already up in years and seriously ill, goes to the grasslands to search for his long-lost sister, who has been separated from their family. His search reflects the joy and sadness of the fate of a generation. He explores step by step the journey his sister took so many years before, showing how she grew up in a new family showing great courage, inclusiveness, and compassion.
