学研中心位于林大校园的东南角,它的双重性表现在面对清华东路的城市表情和回应校园的亲和力,而更为重要的是它在“角部”的控制力以及重构校园秩序的新策略。建筑风格选择了一条“中性”路线,建筑色调与主楼趋同,对外保持校园沿街的统一性;对内调和着红砖和灰砖的老建筑。均质化的竖向开窗和暖灰色的石材温和儒雅,隐约显现着经典校园气质。对外简约卓尔不凡,对内谦和包容。“十年树木,百年树人”是重构场所精神的基础,建筑形态在延续校园空间结构中,吸取了一种繁衍的力量,并建构了一个新的秩序化空间;纵横两条轴线控制了方正的体量,从两条轴线生长出沿街和内庭院的主入口,通过对自然律动的表达,借用分形几何学的手法创造出一种独特的形式语言。

The Academy Research Center is located at the southeast corner of Beijing Forestry University. It has dual nature-facing out to the city across Qinghua East Road while being strongly linked to the campus. The project exerts a controlling force over its "corner" while strengthening the order of the campus. The style of the building was purposely chosen for its neutral features and its color is sympathetic to that of the main building in order to maintain the expression of the campus along the road. From the campus it appears to be an old building of red and gray brick. Its homogenous vertical windows and warm gray stone express a classical campus quality. From the outside it appears simple yet exceptional. The Chinese saying "it takes 10 years to grow trees, but 100 years to nurture a generation of good men" is the spiritual basis of the reconstruction. The form of the building works with the existing campus structures to create a new and ordered space; vertical and horizontal axes control its massing. The two axes extend along the road and the entrance to the internal yard. A unique formal language is created by expressing these natural rhythms and using principles of fractal geometry.
