The Boeing 787, famously known as the “Dreamliner”, is Boeing's latest effort to build an ultra-eff i cient aircraft. The blue and white jet with a sharklike streamlined design is a mix of art, technology and supreme quality infused with the modern concept of “green fl ight”. It is perfectly fi t for both point-to-point domestic fl ights and international long-distance fl ights.

Engines∶ the heart of power for the Dreamliner is not only 15% more fuel-efficient, but is also quieter – it is one of the world's quietest aircraft engines. Its larger, more efficient fan blades run at a fan tip speed 60% lower than those of aircraft of similar size.

The overall airframe, main wings and control surfaces of the Boeing 787 are all made of carbon fi bre composite materials, which have the advantages of corrosion resistance, are lightweight, great strength and ease of design. Meanwhile, the wings have a much lighter weight, greater torsional strength and more powerful climbing ability than conventional wings.

ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY AND FUEL-EFFICIENT

梦幻之二:环保节能

The Dreamliner is 20% more fuel-eff i cient than similar aircraft, emitting fewer greenhouse gases. It also creates 60% less noise than other aircraft during takeoff and landing. In addition, its cabin is equipped with better air fi lters, ensuring better cabin air quality. The aircraft is also more durable, with the repair frequency reduced by 30%.

梦幻之三:全面计算机控制

The Boeing 787 is currently the only aircraft model that completely shifts to a fl y-by-wire control system. The use of electric signals transmitted by wires enables fl ight control computers to quickly determine how to properly move the actuators at each control surface to provide the ordered response, thus reducing human error by pilots and improving fl ight safety. In addition, the braking system of 787's landing gear is also electric – the only type of its kind. Electric brakes do not have the disadvantage of oil leakage as the electronic control of landing gear by computers enhances the accuracy of braking and reduces the parts replacement rate.

IMPROVED COMFORT

梦幻之四:更舒适

Thanks to the greater strength of composite materials, Boeing 787's cabin altitude can be adjusted lower while the pressure altitude remains higher, allowing more air inside the cabin. Humidity levels in the cabin can also be higher because composite materials do not corrode like metals. Thus, passengers are not prone to feel dry and tired during long-haul fl ights.
