军事工程遗产属于遗产功能分类的一个类型，是军事遗产的重要组成部分，本身又有点状、线状和点线结合的军事工程遗产3类。军事工程经历了从史前时代到现代的漫长发展历程，随着军事思想和武器装备的进步，从普通的城堡边墙到星形棱堡、再到地堡战壕，各个时期不同类型的军事工程遗产是军事技术史和战争史的宝贵物质例证。中国杰出的军事工程遗产，点状遗产，如涵盖了中央都城至基层县城的“中国明清城墙”；线状遗产，如横亘中国北方农牧区之间的万里长城；点线结合的遗产，如川渝的南宋抗蒙山城体系等，都具有重要的历史价值和情感价值。

Abstract:Military engineering heritage is an important sub-type belongs to the military heritage, based on the functional classificationa. There are three types of military engineering heritage, punctiform, filiform, and point-line combination type. With the progress of military thought and weaponry, military engineering structure has experienced from prehistoric time to modern time. From ordinary castle wall, bastion fortress,to bunker trenches, it varies from period to period, represents valuable material examples of military technology and witnesses the history of war. China has numbers of outstanding military engineering heritage. City Walls of Ming and Qing Dynasties represents punctiform heritage which distributes from the central capital to county town. The Great Wall represents the filiform heritage which lines between the northern agricultural and pastoral areas. And the mountain system in Sichuan and Chongqing that built to defend the Mongolian army represents the point-line combination heritage. All of these heritages contain plenty of historical value and emotional value.

军事工程遗产，顾名思义，是历史上主要用于防御敌方进犯、保护自己有生力量而构筑的建筑物或构筑物的遗留。作为文化遗产的一个组成部分，军事工程遗产属于遗产功能分类的一个遗产类型，它是军事遗产的最主要组成部分①军事遗产包括不可移动的军事工程遗产和可移动的军事设备遗产两大类，二者共同构成了军事遗产的统一体。只不过军事设备通常不会长期安装在军事工程上，一旦没有军事需求就要拆除并集中保存，尤其当军事工程废弃以后，就不会再有武器装备。……
