这是一本非常有趣且幽默的绘本。讲述的是一位老奶奶一个不小心，吞下了一只苍蝇后所发生的故事。当老奶奶不小心吞了一只苍蝇后，因为很担心苍蝇会在肚子里动来动去，所以她紧接着又吞下了蜘蛛去捉苍蝇、吞下了小鸟去捉蜘蛛、吞下了小猫去捉小鸟、吞下了小狗去捉小猫、吞下了奶牛去捉小狗、吞下了马去捉奶牛。那结果呢？当然是她被撑死啦。

每吞进一只动物，作者都会采用There was an old ladywho swallowed……的重复句式来表达，而且在讲下一个要吞下哪个动物时，作者会在前面用图画的方式来暗示。

最后三句肯定是：

She swaIlowed the…to catch the…

I dOn。t know why she swaIlowed the flv.

Perhaps she。ll die.

That wiggled （扭动着的） and jiggled （移动的）and tickled （使人发痒的） inside her.

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.

I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

Perhaps she'll die.

Woof. Gone to the by and by （马上就要离开了）.

Meow. Sigh （叹气） .

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird.

How absurd （荒唐） ！ She swallowed a bird.

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider.

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.

I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

Perhaps she'll die. Moo.

She'll leave us high. Woof. And dry.

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat.

Imagine that （难以想象） ]

She swallowed a cat.

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird.

She died， of course！

It was the last course （最后一道菜） .

It is such a loss （损失） .She had no time to floss （牙线） .She missed out on the sauce （酱汁） .What's left to say （还有什么没说的） ...We'll miss her dearly.Even the artist （画家） is crying...

这是一个热闹的故事，老婆婆在不小心吞进了一只小苍蝇后，为了抓住它，就越吃越多，所吞的动物体型也越吃越大，故事仿佛变成了一条食物链。该故事的结构循环往复，情节简单却不失趣味，语言也极富韵律美，让人读着朗朗上口。希望同学们在享受故事带来的乐趣的同时，也能让自己的表达能力、复述能力有所提升。
