同级比较

常见用法：

1. 甲 + be / 实义动词  +  as + 形容词 / 副词原级 + as  +  乙。如：

Dr. Yuan Longping had a dream that he could develop rice as large as peanuts. 袁隆平院士有一个梦想，那就是研发出像花生一样大的稻米。

2. 甲 + be + not / 助动词 + not + 动词原形 + as / so + 形容词 /  副词原级 + as + 乙。 如：

Tom cannot run as fast as his friends， so he practices running very hard.

汤姆不如他的朋友跑得快， 所以他很努力地练习跑步。

形容词、副词的比较级

常见用法：

1. 通常修饰比较级的词有much，a lot，far，a little，a bit，even，still等。如：

Tom drives still more carefully than his brother.

汤姆开车仍然比他弟弟还认真。

2. 主语 + 动词（be动词 / 实义动词） + 形容词 / 副词的比较级 + than + 比较对象，表示“……比……更……”。如：

High⁃speed trains are much faster than traditional ones.

高铁要比普通火车快得多。

Emma loves animals and looks after her pet dog more carefully than her friends.

爱玛喜爱动物，比她的朋友们照顾她的宠物狗更细心。

3. 比较级 + and + 比较级或more and more + 原级（多音节或部分双音节词），表示“越来越……”。如：

People in the rural areas live a happier and happier life with the care of the government.农村地区的人们在政府的关怀下过着越来越幸福的生活。

4. the + 比较级，the + 比较级，表示“越……，就越……”。如：

During the exam， the more careful you are， the fewer mistakes you’ll make.

在考试期间， 你越细心， 你出的错误就会越少。

5. Which + be + 比较级，A or B？ 表示“A和B，哪一个更……？”。如：

Which is bigger，the earth or the moon？地球和月球哪一个大？

6. 甲 +  be +  the + 形容詞比较级 + of the two + ...表示“甲是两者中较……的”。如：

Look at the two boys. My brother is the taller of the two.

看那两个男孩，我弟弟是两个当中较高的那个。

形容词和副词的最高级

常见用法：

1. the + 形容词 / 副词最高级（ + 名词） + in / of短语，表示“……中最……的”。如：

—Do you have any sales going today？

—Sure， we have the latest smart phones on sale.

——今天你们有什么活动吗？

——当然有。我们有最新款的智能手机在搞特价销售。

2. the + 序数词 + 形容词最高级 + 单数名词，表示“第几……”。如：

We know the Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world.

我们知道长江是世界上第三长河。

3. one of the + 形容词最高级 + 复数名词，表示 “最……之一”。如：

Running is one of  the most popular sports in China.

在中国，跑步是最受欢迎的运动之一。

4. 特殊疑问词 + be / 实义动词 + the + 形容词 / 副词最高级， A， B or C？表示“A，B，C哪一个最……？”。如：

—What subject do you like best， English， math or physics？

—Of course， English.

——你最喜欢什么学科，英语、数学还是物理？

——当然，英语了。
