“I know I will never walk again,”cyclistKristina Vogel said on Wednesday at her first public appearance since an accident in June that left herparalyzed.

“Maybe I'll win my 12th gold medal elsewhere,”added Vogel, who hascaptured11 world titles and won two Olympic gold medals.

“What do I have to feel sorry about?”the 27-year-old girl asked.“The situation is what it is.I willobviouslyfind other goals.”

Vogel announced,in an interview withDer Spiegelmagazine last week that she was nowparaplegicaftercollidingat full speed with another cyclist training onthe concrete trackat the Cottbusvelodrome.

“Falling is a part of cycling,”she said on Wednesday, sitting in a wheelchair.“I could have been dead.I was damn lucky.”

Her seventhspinal cordwas broken, and she has lost all feelings in her legs.

She called the media conference at the Berlin clinic where she was treated.

“It's a complete break in life,a turn of 180 degrees. But I'm here,on two wheels or on four wheels.I do not have to hide.I would like to be independent.I want to restart life and give up outside help as much as possible.”

“I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again, cooking for myself, feeling my own walls around me,being alone with my partner,”she said.

“I wanted to improve my record,”she said.“It's a dream that is now impossible for me.Maybe I'll win my 12th gold medal elsewhere.”

1.“Falling is a part of cycling,”she said on Wednesday,sitting in a wheelchair.“跌倒是骑自行车的一部分。”

2.She called the media conference at the Berlin clinic where she was treated.

where she was treated是定语从句,修饰先行词clinic;where所引导的定语从句修饰的先行词是表示地点的名词,如place、room、house、street、area等,并在定语从句中作地点状语。

3.It's a dream that is now impossible for me.

that is now impossible for me是定语从句,修饰前面的先行词dream。
