The hare (野兔) and the turtle

Once a turtle was mocked by a hare for her short and slow legs, however, she did not remain silent and defended herself by throwing a laugh and saying to the hare, “You may be a very fast friend, hare, but Im more than sure that I can win a race.”

The hare, surprised by what the turtle told her, accepted the challenge without thinking twice, since she was very sure she would win the turtle with her eyes closed. Then, both proposed to the fox, that it was she who pointed the way and the goal.

Days later, the expected moment of the race arrived, and at the sound of the count of three, began the race of these two contenders. The turtle did not stop walking, but at her slow pace, she moved calmly towards the goal. The hare, on the other hand, ran so fast that she left the turtle far behind. Turning around and no longer seeing the turtle, the hare certainly saw her success over the race and decided to take a nap.

Shortly afterwards, the hare woke up and saw if the turtle was still missing from the rear, but looking towards the goal, she saw the turtle was very close to the end. Finally, the turtle won.

【佳作赏析】

Im delighted to introduce my favourite fable to you, whose title is The hare and the turtle.

The fable focuses on a race between a hare and a turtle. The hare laughed at the turtles short legs and made sure that she would win the race. In the beginning, the hare left the turtle far behind and took a nap during the race. However, when she woke up, she was desperate to see the turtle at the finishing line.

The fable teaches us a lesson that goals are achieved little by little, with work and effort. Although we sometimes seem slow, success will always come. It also shows that we do not have to mock people for their physical defects, as they may be better in other respects. This fable has great educational value and is well worth reading.

A man from the State of Zheng bought shoes

Once in the State of Zheng, there was a man who wanted to buy a pair of shoes. He measured his foot and put the foot measurement on a chair. Then he set out for the market in a hurry, but forgot to bring it along. When he found the pair of shoes he wanted, it suddenly occurred to him that he had left the measurement at home.

He went home to get it right away. When he returned, the market had closed, and he did not get new shoes. He was very sad.

Someone asked, “Why didnt you just try on the shoes with your feet?” He replied, “Id rather trust the measurement than believe my own feet.”
