菲利普·罗斯的文学创作:祛魅

摘要：祛魅是美国犹太作家菲利普·罗斯创作上的一个重要特征。罗斯通过描写犹太青年的反叛行为,揭示了犹太人心理层面上的祛魅,表达了犹太人对犹太传统的复杂情感。罗斯采用揭示、嘲讽、戏谑、颠覆、解构等作为其文学祛魅的方式;既祛犹太传统与犹太主流话语之魅,又祛美国主流文化价值之魅,是罗斯文学祛魅之特点;而还原人真实、本来的面目,实现人的彻底解放与自由,是罗斯文学祛魅之目的。罗斯的创作彰显了其人道主义精神实质。

Abstract：Disenchantment is an important feature of Philip Roth’s writing.Through describing the rebellious behaviors of Jewish youths,Roth exposes the disenchantment in Jews’ mind,and expresses the complicated feelings toward Jewish tradition.Roth’s ways of literary disenchantment are exposure,satire,banter,subversion and deconstruction.The feature of Roth’s disenchantment is that he disenchants not only Jewish tradition and mainstream discourse but also American mainstream culture.And the purpose of Roth’s disenchantment is to restore the original and true human nature and achieve complete liberation and freedom of humans.Roth’s writing demonstrates his humanitarianism.

菲利普·罗斯的《波特诺的抱怨》一经发表就引起了巨大的轰动,在给他带来文学声誉和财富的同时,也招致了犹太界的强烈指责,几乎令他陷入“众叛亲离”的局面。犹太社区称他为“犹太人的逆子”,尽给犹太人脸上“抹黑”。那么,罗斯为何要揭自家人的“短”、出自家人的“丑”呢？本文借用马克斯·韦伯的“祛魅”一词来阐释其深层次原因。“祛魅”是一个含有多重意义且具动态性的概念,它源于韦伯所说的“世界的祛魅”。韦伯说:“从原则上说,再也没有什么神秘莫测,无法计算的力量在起作用,人们可以通过计算掌握一切,而这就意味着为世界祛魅。……
