Before you pick your next meal, make sure you know the facts about food combinations.

1. Food and water/ juice

Drinking water or juice with your meal is doing no good to your health. Water dilutes your stomach acids and reduces their effectiveness in breakingdown proteins, carbohydrates and fats. So drink water 10 minutes before the meal as it will make you feel fuller for longer. This'll keep you from overeating.

2. Cereal with milk and orange juice

Milk contains casein, and orange juice contains acid. Together, they curdle the dairy and also destroy the enzyme present in the starchy cereal. To avoid this, have fruit juice at least an hour before or after the cereals.

3. Tomato and cucumber

Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamin C, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. In fact, they actually have more of it than an orange. However, cucumber contains an enzyme that 6)interferes with the 7)absorption of vitamin C, canceling out some of the benefits.

4. Melon and everything

Melon is everyone's favorite summer treat. These days, you may even see people doing things like grilling slices, or tossing it with feta in a salad. While this might taste amazing, your stomach will not be as happy as your taste buds. In fact, melon digests faster than most other foods, so eating it as part of more complex meal can throw your body off.
