Conversation 1

Mother:Have you done your homework,Susanna?

苏珊娜，你做作业了吗？

Susanna: Not yet,mom.

还没有，妈妈。

Mother:You know you haven’t finished your homework.Then why are you watching TV,Susanna?

你知道你还没有完成作业。那你为什么还在看电视，苏珊 娜？

Susanna:This is my favorite show,you know.

你知道的，这是我最喜欢的节目。

Mother: Go do your homework.

去做你的作业。

Susanna:But,mom!

但是，妈妈！

Mother:You can watch TV after you finish your homework.

做完作业后，你才可以看电视。

Susanna:But the show will be over soon.

Mother:There will be another show next week.

下周又会有另外的节目。

Susanna:Please?

Mother:You know the rules,Susanna.

Father:The day after tomorrow you’re going toattend school,Robert.What do you need for school?

Robert:I need pencils.

Father:Anything else?

还有别的吗？

Robert:I need a pencil sharpener,an eraser,a ruler,and a notebook.

Father:Do you need a pen?

注:

1.“Not yet,mom.”是一个省略句，其完整的句子表达是“I have not finished my homework yet,mom.”。

2.关于“go”的用法，平时同学们常用的表达是：“go to + 地名”（go to the cinema、go to the hospital、go to the zoo 等），“go to + 动词（短语）”（go to work、go to play the table tennis、go to see a film 等），“go to + 动名词（短语）”（go fishing、go swimming、go hiking 等）。然而，这里的“Go do your homework.”这句话却不存在语法错误。因为在英语中，当“go”后面这个动作发生的时间与“go”这个动作发生的时间差小得可以忽略不计时，就可以用“go + 动词原形”来表达，如：“Go set the table.”“Go pick up the pencil for me.”“Dinner is ready.Go wash your hands,Tom.”。

3.英语中的“go to school”与“attend school”翻译成中文时都可以是“上学”，但是两者的意思其实是不一样的。“go to school”表达的是“上学”或“到学校上课”这一行为，而“attend school”表达的是“入学”，即原来未上学的人即将要入学。如：“In China,children must attend school at 6.”“Mr.Wang’s son and daughter attend the same primary school.”。

4.“Uncle Sam bought me one the day before yesterday.”这句话中的“one”指代的就是“a pen”。句中的“bought me one”就是“bought one for me”的意思，因为在英语中“buy sb.something”就等于“buy something for sb.”。

5.“Yes,that’s all I need for now.”这句话中的“all”后面省略了“that”。英语中，“all that”就等于“what”。因此，这句话还可以说成“Yes,that’s all that I need for now.”或“Yes,that’s what I need for now.”。
