The best way to find yourself

Two years ago, I felt very depressed and flew to Belize to volunteer on a farm. I made a lot of friends, and spent a lot of time trying to 1.(decide on/figure out) who I was.While I was there, I taught martial arts in exchange for Spanish lessons, passing on what I knew to someone else and in return 2.(acquiring/recognizing) a new skill.
