【作家簡介】:

石黑一雄( Kazuo Ishiguro),日裔英国作家,1954年出生于日本长崎,1960年时随父亲迁往英国,先后在肯特大学和东英吉利大学获得学士和硕士学位。1982年出版第一部小说《群山淡景》(A PaleView of Hills),获得英国皇家学会颁发的温尼弗雷德·霍尔比奖,引起英国文坛注意。随后便一发不可收拾,至今已发表7部长篇小说和一部短篇小说集,并斩获包括布克奖(The Man Booker Prize)在内的众多文学奖。2008年,石黑一雄被《泰晤士报》(The Times)评为英国自1945年以来最伟大的50位小说家之一。

石黑一雄在小说中善于利用回忆来探讨阶级、英国性( Englishness)、战争的创伤、童真的失去、英帝国的没落、克隆人的困境等主题。石黑一雄的语言典雅考究、叙事冷静克制,看似平静的语言背后隐藏着强烈和深厚的感情,有评论家认为他的语言比英国本土作家还要地道。他的小说散发着淡淡的忧伤,结尾常给人一种悬而未决的感觉:主人公经过挣扎后终于能够坦然面对自己的过去,但未来将走向何处,作者并没有告诉我们。1989年,石黑一雄出版《长日留痕>(The Remains of the Day),获得英国文学最高奖——布克奖,该书1993年被改编成同名电影,并获得8项奥斯卡提名。2005年,石黑一雄将笔触投向克隆人问题,出版了《千万别丢下我》(Never Let Me Go),探讨克隆人的心理世界以及克隆问题的道德困境。2010年,该书被改编成电影,并获得了不少影评家的好评。

【内容提要】:

在英国乡间有一所名叫黑尔舍姆的学校。这里的学生和别处的学生看起来并无差别,他们也学习体育、绘画、音乐等课程,可是游客、老师和校监却对他们避而远之。后来通过传闻和老师的话,叙述者凯西和她的朋友露丝、汤米发现他们原来是克隆人,他们存在的目的是为人们捐献器官,每人捐献三四次后,生命就完结了。这一发现让他们踏上了寻找身份之旅:露丝通过寻找自己的“原型”来理解自己的身份,汤米通过绘画来证明自己的情感和灵魂与人类一样丰富。凯西和汤米为了延缓捐献找到了克劳德夫人,却被告知夫人也无能为力,他们的命运注定是悲剧性的。选文中,凯西听着歌曲《千万别丢下我》,怀里抱着枕头,把它当成自己的孩子晃来晃去,站在门口的夫人看到这一切,不禁抽泣哽咽……

【作品简评】:在《千万别丢下我》中,克隆人有着和正常人一样的外貌,一样丰富的情感和灵魂,但是他们既不能繁衍后代,也不能和自己相爱的人厮守,最终都将走向死亡。汤米和凯西找到了克劳德夫人,希望用他们的爱情来感动、说服她,从而推迟捐献。克劳德夫人和埃米莉表示非常同情,她们也一直在努力为克隆人争取权利并为禁止人类克隆而奔走呼告,但是却无法改变现状。选文中,凯西抱着枕头随着《千万别丢下我》起舞,夫人看到这一幕也忍不住哭泣。克隆技术的发明让疾病有了更多的治疗方式,使器官移植也成了可能,然而它也带来了冷漠和残忍:少数人的健康是以牺牲有感情、有灵魂的克隆人为代价的。《千万别丢下我》其实是关于克隆人命运的寓言:在一个以人类为中心的社会,克隆人的身份不被承认、生命得不到尊重,他们的命运注定是悲剧性的。石黑一雄通过探讨克隆人的命运批判了人类中心主义以及后资本主义时代科技和资本所引发的道德伦理困境。
